Kyle Payne has spent almost a decade documenting and reporting on both collegiate and professional sports, working both for teams and a major network. Payne is currently a producer and editor with Fox Sports South in Atlanta, Georgia, outputting more than 20 original programs for both FSN South and Sport South in the last year and a half. Payne won an Emmy for his work as a producer and editor on “Around the South: College Football Coaches’ Special Edition.” He also served as shooter, producer and editor for the 2007 documentary “Under the Lights: Appalachian State Football,” in which he followed the team for one month, leading up to their monumental win over the University of Michigan Wolverines. In his current capacity, Payne has also had the opportunity to interview and work with top athletes across various sports, including Hank Aaron, Evander Holyfield, Pat Summitt, Mark Martin, Nick Saban and Warrick Dunn, among others. Payne began his career with the University of Tennessee Athletic Department as a visual resource specialist and later as an assistant producer. He wrote, edited and produced more than 50 features for various television shows, covering numerous sports. Payne produced features and other elements for the Vol Network’s regionally televised shows “The Buzz Peterson Show,” “The Pat Summitt Show,” and he additionally served as on-site producer for “The Phillip Fulmer Show.” During his five years at UT, he also produced “Inside the Orange,” a spring production that covered all UT sports, and even hosted the show for the 2004 and 2005 seasons. In addition to his experience in the collegiate sports arena, Payne also spent time with the Tennessee Titans, writing more than 40 stories for the team Web site, titansonline.com. He was also tasked with covering practices and community service events. Payne now joins StadiumPSL.com, sharing his thoughts on sports today and encouraging feedback on his opinions on the StadiumPSL.com forum.
