After a very competitive wild card round, we roll on to the Divisional Playoffs this week and the league's top teams have a chance to flex their muscle. It is the best weekend of the year for NFL fans so let's dive into the matchups! Seattle at Green Bay - FOX - Saturday 4:30 p.m.
The divisional round begins on Saturday afternoon at Lambeau Field as the Packers host the Seattle Seahawks. These two met in the wild card round in 2003 where a young QB named Matt Hasselbeck made a brash move as the game went into overtime. The Seahawks won the coin toss to which Hasselbeck replied "we want the ball, and we are going to score!" Well, there was a score, an Al Harris interception of Hasselbeck returned 52 yards for the game winning touchdown. These two teams have changed a lot since that season, but the Packers are still the team to beat in this one. QB Brett Favre had a stellar season, and had it not been for Tom Brady shattering all the league's single season passing marks, Favre would have been the NFL MVP. While he and his talented group of young receivers lead the way for the Green Bay offense, it has been the emergence of RB Ryan Grant that has taken this team from good to great offensively. That balanced attack produces more than 370 yards per game on offense and 27.2 points per contest. For the Seahawks, they had a convincing 35-14 win over Washington last week. That game was in front of the wild Seahawk fans, this one will be in Lambeau, a little bit different for Seattle. This game could be a shootout, but if Seattle can find some success with their backfield duo of Maurice Morris and Shaun Alexander it will help them stay in the game through the fourth quarter. Could Favre and the Packers be starting a magical postseason run? We think so... We will take the Pack, 31-21. |
