Chargers vs. Titans Game Recap |

In a game that truly was a tale of two halves, the San Diego Chargers finally got a playoff win with a 17-6 triumph over the Tennessee Titans. After trailing 6-0 at halftime, the Chargers defense turned up the heat and held the Titans scoreless while Philip Rivers found wideouts Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson down the field to spark the San Diego offense. Chambers and Jackson each had more than 100 receiving yards and Jackson had a touchdown to give the Chargers their first lead at 10-6. LaDainian Tomlinson ran for just 42 yards on 21 carries and TE Antonio Gates left the game in the first half with a toe injury. But, Rivers calmed the offense in the second half and kept the pressure on the Titans for the victory. Tennessee simply did not have enough offense as they ended with just 248 total yards. That sets up next weekend's divisional playoffs. The Chargers will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts on Sunday. The other matchups with be Jacksonville at New England, Seattle at Green Bay and the New York Giants at Dallas. It was a great wild card weekend and we look forward to you being back next week to follow the action right here on StadiumPSL.com. |

Chargers vs. Titans First Half thoughts |

In a game that has featured a lot of action but not much scoring the Tennessee Titans hold a 6-0 lead over the San Diego Chargers at the half. The Titans set the tone early as the Chargers struggled to move the ball throughout the half. Two big turnovers have altered the game thus far. First, Chris Brown fumbled in the red zone as the Titans were looking to pad their lead. Then, after the Chargers finally had field position in their favor, Cortland Finnegan came up with a great interception in his own endzone to stop a San Diego drive before it could get started. The biggest news of the first half was the injury to San Diego TE Antonio Gates, who left on a cart with a toe injury. It is interesting to note that the Chargers also failed to score in the first half when these two met in the regular season. Obviously the Titans have a good grip on what the Chargers want to do, and with Gates return unlikely, that takes away another weapon. This game will likely come down to one big play that determines it, check back with us right here on StadiumPSL.com at the game's end to see who made it! |

Buccaneers vs. Giants Recap |

The New York Giants went on the road and put together a complete performance to beat Tampa Bay 24-14. It is QB Eli Manning's finest hour as a pro, as he gets his first playoff victory. He finished 20 of 27 for 185 yards and two passing touchdowns. More importantly he led the way with a solid, patient performance where New York did not have any turnovers. Tampa just did not have enough going on offense, and defensively they were put on their heels from the second quarter on. Now the Giants will move on to take on the Dallas Cowboys next week. This is a confidence boost for New York, and with the Cowboys shaky performances of late, don't be surprised if the Giants take the Cowboys to the wire in Dallas. Now, our last game of the wild card round is about to start, Tennessee at San Diego. We will be back right here on StadiumPSL.com at the half for our thoughts on the action. |

The first quarter was all Bucs and for Eli Manning and the Giants it looked like it was going to be another frustrating afternoon. But, in the second quarter the New York Giants got pressure on Jeff Garcia and offensively Manning and the Giants got things rolling. At the half they lead 14-7 with Manning leading two touchdown drives where he was 9 of 10 with a touchdown. Tampa was shaken in the second quarter as Jeff Garcia was under constant pressure from Michael Strahan and the Giants defensive line. With that pressure, and with WR Joey Galloway not at 100% with a bum shoulder, it could be an early exit from the playoffs for the Bucs. As for the Giants offense, if they avoid a big mistake they could be rolling into the divisional round next week. |

Steelers vs. Jaguars Game Recap |

What a finish! A quarterback draw on fourth and two with the season on the line! The Jaguars were on the verge of giving away a playoff game as Big Ben and the Steelers found their rhythm and piled up 22 second half points. Jacksonvile QB David Garrard threw two 2nd half interceptions after throwing only three during the entire regular season. But, Garrard redeemed himself with a 32-yard run on fourth and two with less than two minutes remaining. Josh Scobee added the 25-yard field goal and Jacksonville won the game 31-29. It was a game, much like the Seattle-Washington afternoon game, that had large momentum swings in the fourth quarter. The Jags had a 28-10 lead deep into the 3rd quarter, but the Steelers would not go away. In the end Jacksonville made the fewest mistakes and converted when they needed it most. Mike Tomlin will be questioned throughout the offseason for opting to go for a pair of two point conversions that both failed. Had the Steelers kicked those extra points, it would have forced the Jaguars to score a touchdown to win instead of just needing a field goal for the victory. The Jaguars will now await the Chargers/Titans game tomorrow afternoon to see where they end up. If San Diego wins, the Jags will take on New England in Foxboro. If the Titans win, Jacksonville will take on the defending Super Bowl champion Colts in Indianapolis. We will be back tomorrow right here on StadiumPSL.com to break down the Sunday wild card action. It will be the New York Giants and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. and the Tennessee Titans at the San Diego Chargers at 4:30 p.m. |

Steelers vs. Jaguars First Half thoughts |

I think it's safe to say the Jaguars are not intimidated by Heinz Field and the Pittsburgh Steelers. After beating the Steelers 29-22 in week 15, the Jaguars are putting it to Pittsburgh again tonight, 21-7 at the half. Maurice Jones-Drew has a 96 yard kickoff return to set up a touchdown and a 43-yard touchdown catch. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger has been picked off three times, one returned by Rashaen Mathis for a score. The Jags are a team confident in who they are and what they do, a valuable quality in the playoffs. It is going to be tough for the Steelers to get back into te game because now they are going to have to throw the ball, and that has resulted in 3 turnovers in the first half. Check back at the end of the game for the recap, enjoy the second half! |
