With training camps rapping up, week 3 of the NFL Preseason is about to get underway. This is always the most telling of all preseason games. The third game often serves as a bit of a dress rehearsal for teams. Here are three things we are keeping our eyes on as the start of the regular season inches closer.
The preseason is not a good barometer for how good a team will be in the NFL’s regular season, but it can be a place to see what young players may be ready to step up and contribute. Here is a look at five guys that impressed us after one week of preseason action.
Disappointing. That is the nicest word that can be used to describe the NFC South in 2007. Sophomore slumps, off the field disasters, untimely injuries and a coach who didn’t even last one season were the lowlights of a season filled with them for this division last year.
The NFC East is one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL and is comprised of four of the most popular teams in the league. The Super Bowl Champion Giants hail from this division, but there are three other worthy challengers to steal headlines in 2008.
The AFC South ended last season with all four of its teams at .500 or better and qualified three of those teams for the playoffs. It was a good division then, and it should be a good division again in 2008.
The NFC West is a division that has teams that seem to always be talking about next year, but maybe this is the year that some of the potential turns into W’s for a couple of the teams.
The AFC West is one of the best divisions in football, and it is one of the only divisions with a chance to see each of its four teams improve its record from last season.
